1609 Bar and Restaurant overlooks Hamilton Harbor in Bermuda and sits adjacent to marina docks. Ships of all sizes regularly pass through this harbor. Therefore, this restaurant will be an ideal location to view the upcoming 35th America’s Cup races in 2017. The restaurant was developed for the Hamilton Princess Hotel in association with Botelho Wood Architects to provide a breath taking place for Chef Marcus Samuelsson’s food creations to be served. The design of the building is focused around spectacular views of the harbor and seeks to blur the lines between interior and exterior spaces. Smells sounds and views of the marina harbor fill the restaurant with the help of glass railings and operable windows that surround the restaurant on all sides. This modern building design maintains many aspects of traditional Bermudian style architecture. For example, some features included are; a stepped white roof, mostly white plaster finishes, wood pergolas, and operable Spanish cedar shutters. The main dining area is located on the upper floor to help accentuate views while separating guests from other marina and hotel foot traffic. Overall, the atmosphere created by the building and views make 1609 Bar and Restaurant a satisfying and unique dining experience.
